The Phoenix Suns announced that franchise legends Amar’e Stoudemire and Shawn Marion will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor next season and have their Suns NBA jerseys retired during the 2023-24 NBA season.
“Sean and Amare are two of the best players the Phoenix Suns have ever had,” Matt Ishbia, general manager of the Suns and Phoenix Mercury, said in a statement.
“Shawn changed the game with his elite versatility, and Amare is one of the most exciting players the league has ever seen. Shawn and Amare helped define the Suns and inspire generations of fans, Our Suns family would not be complete without them. Ring of Honor.
“As we enter a new era of Suns basketball, our priority is to stay connected to our storied history. We are excited to celebrate Shawn and Amare and appropriately recognize their incredible contributions to the NBA and achievement.”
Ceremony dates for Stoudemire and Marion have not yet been announced.
